    Abstract
    Mangongkal Holi is the highest tradition found in Batak Toba community. The objectives of this research are to explore and analyse performances of mangongkal holi tradition, analysing text, co-text, and context, finding out the meaning and functions as well as those local wisdom, then finding the revitalization model that can preserve the continuity of the tradition practices in the future. The emik method was applied some data collection technique: direct participation observation, and interview as well as the qualitative data analysis. The data were analysed through applying Miles and Huberman (2014:8), where data display, data condensation and data conclusion/verification were the three concurrent flow activities done to make sure the process of data analysis precisely on the track. The findings of this research are the performance of mangongkal holi tradition which is classified into: ceremonial, main activities, and entertaining. The finding of text, co-text, and context analysis were grouped based on its’ series of tradition: Royal meeting (tonggo raja), Excavating saring-saring from the tombs/graves (mangongkal holi/paumbanghon saring-saring tu batu na pir), Offerings tu hula-hula (sulang bao), Sacrificing the water buffalo (mangaliat horbo), Starting Gondang Sabangunan Officially (mambuat tua ni gondang) and Great Party (pesta adat na gok). There are nine local wisdom found in mangongkal holi tradition, they are: thanksgivings, respect, humble/humility, blessings, responsibility, mutual cooperation, prays, concession in dialogue, and prestige. Mangongkal holi tradition should be revitalized as soon as possible, to anticipate its extinction in the future. The revitalization model that the writer recommend is, offer a freedom to the host in deciding the types of ceremony they would apply based on their family consensus as well as their financial sufficient; this issue could be socialized to the society through administering such cultural seminar, religious seminar, tourism promo, publishing bulletin/leaflet periodically that inform anything related to mangongkal holi tradition.
