Faktor-Faktor yang Memengaruhi Ketahanan Diri Remaja dalam Mencegah Penyalahgunaan Narkoba di Kota Medan

Abstract

Drug abuse is a public health problem that can cause the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual problems. Using drug continuously can make the person become addicted or dependent on it. Drugs abuse usually undergone by adolescent. Some factors which make the susceptible to using drug are their psychological development, pressure from peers, high inquisitiveness, and trying to take a risk. Therefore, good self-resistance in adolescent is highly needed to prevent them from using drugs. The objective of the research was to find out the factors affecting self-resistance in adolescent in preventing them from using drugs in Medan. The research employed quantitative analytic method with cross sectional design. The population was made up of 17.906 students of SMK Negeri in Medan, and 200 of them were selected as the samples, taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The research instrument is hard-copies of questioners. The data were analyzed by using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis with ordinal regression test. The result of the research showed that there was significant influence of self-regulation r=0,0001 (r>0,05), assertiveness r=0,0001 (r>0,05), and reaching out r=0,0001 (r>0,05), on adolescent self-resistance in preventing them from drugs abuse. The conclusion was that the factors of self-regulation, assertiveness, and reaching out could influence the level of adolescents self resistance in Medan. The implication of this research was that a method and teaching materials were needed to develop self-resistance in preventing drugs abuse by emphasizing the reinforcement in self-regulation, assertiveness, and reaching out in adolescent in Medan.
