Human body system develops fatigue as a strategy to protect the body
from further damage, which requires the body to rest in order recovered. Every
individual shows different condition of fatigue, but the common result is a loss of
efficiency, work capacity, and body endurance (Tarwaka, 2019). Fatigue is one og
the primary causes of occupational accidents, killing up two million workers each
year, 18.828 pearsons (32,8%) out of 58.115 samples suffer work fatigue (ILO,
2018). The purpose of this research is discover how work fatigue affects nurses at
the emergency room of Padangsidimpuan Regional General Hospital. This
quantitative research employs cross-sectional approach and applies total
sampling technique te select all 36 nurses at the emergency room of
Padangsidimpuan Regional General Hospital. The Reaction Timer Test is carried
out to measure the fatigue. The data is analyzed by using univatiate and bivariate
with Spearman Correlation Test, as well as the multivariate with Path Analysis
Test. The Spearman Correlation Test reveals a significant correlation between
workload and fatigue (P=0,000, r=0,634), sleep quality and fatigue (P=0,007,
r=0,444), and workload and sleep quality (P=0,002, r=0,503). As a result, it is
concluded that there is a significant correlation between fatigue and workload, as
well as sleep quality in the case of nurses at Emergency Room of
Padangsidimpuan Regional General Hospital.
