dc.description.abstractThis research was conducted at the basic plant breeding laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan, from December 2022 to February 2023. This research is descriptive research to identify the morphological characters of corn seeds resulting from crossing 3 parents during the germination period. The observed variables were day of plumule emergence, day of radicle emergence, leaf area index, leaf greenness/chlorophyll index, root length, plant height, stem diameter, stem color, hypocotyl color, stomata length, stomata width, trichome length. The results of observations on corn seeds in the F2 population had phenotypic diversity with broad criteria in observing days of plumule emergence, days of radicle emergence, leaf area index, root length, plant height, stem diameter, stomata length, stomata width and trichome length. Phenotypic diversity that has narrow criteria is the number of leaves and leaf greenness/chlorophyll index. The visible stem colors are purple and green. The visible color of the hypocotyl is whiteen_US
