This research aims to determine the effect of salinity on the growth of upland rice
plants. This research was conducted in Medan Selayang, Medan City, Medan
Selayang District, Medan from November 2022 to February 2023. This research
used a factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) method using 2 factors. The
first factor is Salinity Concentration (S): S0 (0%), S1 (1.5 dS/m), S2 (3 dS/m), S3
(4.5 dS/m). The second factor is the number of varieties (P): P1 (Situbagendit), P2
(Inpago 12), P3 (Inpago 13). The variables observed were flowering age, plant
height, leaf area, root length, root volume, number of tillers, root fresh weight,
stress tolerance index. The results showed that the variety treatment had a
significant effect on reducing plant height by 8 MSP, the number of tillers by 4
MSP, root volume and root fresh weight, and the superior sensitivity index on the
Inpago 13 variety. The salinity treatment had a significant effect on reducing
flowering age, plant height, leaf area, number of tillers, root length, root volume
and root fresh weight. The interaction between salinity and variety had a
significant effect on reducing plant height at 2 and 8 MSP, leaf area at 4-6 MSP,
number of tillers at 2 MSP, root volume and root wet weight. The sensitivity index
shows that the Inpago 13 variety is the most tolerant and the Situbagendit variety
has the highest sensitivity
