Uji Adaptasi Jagung Hibrida Varietas Advanta Ruby (Zea mays L.) di Kecamatan Namorambe Kabupaten Deli Serdang

Abstract

Corn is one of the world's most important food crops, besides wheat and rice. Increasing corn production can be done through the use of quality hybrid seeds. This research aims to evalued the growth of hybrid corn of the Advanta Ruby variety in Namorambe District, Deli Serdang Regency. This research was carried out on Becek Street, Namorambe District, Deli Serdang Regency with an altitude of ± 60 meters above sea level. This research was conducted from May 2023 to August 2023. This research used a randomized block design with one factor with three levels, namely Advanta Ruby corn, Pioneer corn, and Bonanza corn. The observed characters consist of vegetative characters and generative characters. Vegetative characters include plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter, while generative characters include male flowering age, female flowering age, harvest age, ear length, ear diameter, and ear weight per plant. The results showed that the variety treatments were significantly different in plant height, stem diameter, male flowering age, female flowering age, harvest age, ear length and ear diameter. The genotype V1 (Advanta Ruby) can adapt well to the environment of Namorambe District, Deli Serdang Regency with the highest average values for the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, ear length and ear diameter.
