This study was carried out at the Junior High School Santo Yoseph Medan, which aimed to investigate the implementation of School Literacy Movement. The data were collected through literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings identified three stages in the School Literacy Movement program elaborated as follows: 1) In the habituation stage, students are accustomed to read books to foster reading interest for 15 minutes. The reading activities are carried out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during literacy hours before the class. 2) The development stage is implemented through writing activities (responding to the reading). This stage is implemented in 5 minutes and aims to practice students' thinking skills in writing as a response to reading. 3) The learning stage is the final phase executed by an oral response to the reading and an assessment. The learning stage is implemented in 5 minutes and aims to communicate information from the reading.en_US
