Abstract

This final project aims to find out the program to improve reading interest conducted by the Medan City Library and Archives Office and to find out the activities carried out and the obstacles faced by the Medan City Library and Archives Office in running the program to improve reading interest. The data collection for this final project uses the data collection method, namely observation at the Medan City Library and Archives Office. The results of the writing can be concluded that the programs carried out by the Medan City Library and Archives Office to improve reading interest are socialization of reading culture and literacy in elementary and special education units and the community. awarding the reading culture movement, selecting regional reading ambassadors. and mobile libraries. The obstacles faced by the Medan City Library and Archives Office in implementing the program activities are the lack of participation from the Medan city community. Socialization of reading culture and literacy in elementary and special education units and the community is an activity carried out by the Medan City Library and Archives Office to improve reading interest This activity aims to encourage the realization of a learning society and to socialize reading culture in elementary education units, special education, and the community. The award for the reading culture movement carried out by the Medan City Library and Archives Office aims to develop knowledge and improve Human Resources. The selection of regional reading ambassadors is a competition held by the Medan City Library and Archives Office with the aim of finding reading ambassadors who are inspirational figures and motivators in raising reading interest in the community. The mobile library is a service activity of the Medan City Library and Archives Office which is carried out by moving from place to place.
