Metode Bernyanyi Jemaat dalam Menyanyikan Lagu dari Kitab Ende-Enden dalam Ibadah Gereja Batak Karo Protestan (GBKP) Simpang VI Kabanjahe

Abstract

The Ende-enden book is a collection of congregational songs in the Batak Karo Protestant Church (GBKP), totaling 500 songs, both from Western adaptations and songs with local characteisticsr, which are the creation of the Karo community as the GBKP congregation. In singing songs from the Ende-enden Book, there are often errors in notation, adding rengget, slowed tempos, incorrect notes, and etc. The aim of this research is to find out how the GBKP congregation's singing method is based on local characteristics of congregational singing, what are the causes of congregational errors in singing and what are the solutions from the GBKP Moderamen through BPIMG (Bureau for the Development of Worship and Church Music) in addressing these problems. The author uses music theory expressed by Bruno Nettl, in analyzing musical sounds by looking at important aspects, namely rhythm, melody and music. Then the author uses the weighted scale theory proposed by William P. Malm, who states that several important parts that must be considered in analyzing a melody are: (1) scale; (2) center pitch(3) reciting tone; (4) number of tones; (5) use of intervals; (6) cadence pattern; (7) melody formula; (8) cantur. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The work process carried out by the author is: literature study, field study (observation, interviews, documentation), and analyzing data. The results obtained from this research are a description of the errors in the singing method of the GBKP congregation and their causes as well as the solutions provided by the GBKP Moderamen in responding to these matters.
