dc.description.abstractThis study aims to discover the collection development at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province. The methods used in this study are literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study have discovered: 1) collection development activities; 2) Library Material Selection Activities of the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province, namely by the process of identifying, assessing, and considering library materials to be added to the existing collection in the library; 3) Library material procurement activities require knowledge of publishers, bookstores, as well as an understanding of policies and procurement procedures; 4) Activities that complete metadata on library materials are held according to a standardized system by considering the development of information and communication technology; 5) Activities to release library collections based on certain considerations and/or policies that apply in the library; 6) The activity of recalculating the collections owned by the library to find out the actual number of library collections in accordance with the collection inventory list.en_US
