Analisis Vegetasi dan Biomassa Pohon di Kebun Raya Sipirok Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Sipirok Botanical Garden, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra has a forest area estimated to have high diversity and carbon stocks. The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure and composition of vegetation and tree biomass in the Sipirok Botanical Garden area, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. This research was conducted from January to August 2023 using purposive sampling method with a total of 25 plots measuring 20x20 m. Vegetation data were analyzed using the Important Value Index (IVI). The Diversity Index (H'), the Index of Evennes (E) using the Shannon-Wiener equation. Carbon stocks potential was calculated using the Ketterings allometric equation. The results of the study found 25 families, 46 species and 162 individuals. The highest importance index on blocks 1B and 3A was Aglaia argentea 96.23% and 39% respectively. On block 5F was Trema tomentosum with the value of 54.54%, on block 7G there was Garcinia atroviridis by 63.05%, and on block 12B was Styrax benzoin by 55.62%. The highest diversity index and the uniformity index were respectively on block 7G by 2.90 and block 5F by 0.97. The biomass at this location was 52,201 ton/ha and the potential carbon stocks was 24,021 tons C/ha.
