dc.description.abstractSipirok Botanical Garden is one of the conservation areas in North Sumatra that has a diversity of flora and fauna, one of which is ferns. The study of ferns at Sipirok Botanical Garden had not been done so that the types of the fern are not yet known. This study aimed to inventory and identify the types of ferns found at the Sipirok Botanical Garden area using the exploration method, which was exploring along to the research track. There were 28 species of ferns found, divided into 12 tribes and 18 genera. Of the 28 species found, 16 species was classified as the terrestrial ferns and 12 types of the epiphytic ferns. The most common tribe was Polypodiaceae with 8 species followed by Aspleniaceae and Selaginellaceae with 4 species each respectivelyen_US
