Bagasse waste is one of the waste material from the sugar factory production process. In the process of burning bagasse, it produces ash that has a high silica content. The silica content is found in cement and sand materials, so bagasse ash can be used to substitute sand material to make bricks. This study aims to examine the use of bagasse ash in brick making. The variations of bagasse ash used to substitute sand are 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% with a total of 30 test pieces. The test was carried out at the age of 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. The results of data analysis show that the use of bagasse ash as a substitute for sand in brick making has the small potential as an alternative to reduce waste in sugar factories. The variation of bagasse ash and the age of the brick have a significant effect on the average compressive strength value and water absorption (absorption) of the brick. The optimum composition of bagasse ash in bricks (included in SNI 03-0349-1989) is bricks with 5% bagasse ash as a substitute for sand at the age of 28 daysen_US
