    Abstract
    Palm oil fronds are waste that have not been utilized optimally. The palm oil fronds contain compounds such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. The high content of cellulose compounds in palm leaves makes them a suitable raw material for making oxalic acid. The need for oxalic acid in Indonesia continues to increase every year, in fact, the fulfillment of oxalic acid consumption in Indonesia is carried out by imports from various countries in the world in very large quantities. The alkali melting method was chosen as a method in the production process for making oxalic acid. The pre-designed factory for making oxalic acid from palm frond raw materials is planned to have a production capacity of 4,300 tons/year and operate for 330 days a year. The pre-design of this factory is planned to be established in Bahorok, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra with an area of 13,100 m2, the workforce required is 145 people. The planned form of business entity is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational structure. The pre-design economic analysis of the plant that would produce oxalic acid using this palm frond as its raw material yielded the following results: • Modal Investasi = Rp 80,995,547,986 • Profit Margin (PM) = 29,25 % • Break Even Point (BEP) = 37,8 % • Return On Investment (ROI) = 25,5 % • Pay Out Time (POT) = 3,93 tahun • Return On Network (RON) = 42,47 % • Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 25,6 % From the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the pre-designed factory for making oxalic acid from palm frond raw materials using the alkali melting method is feasible to be established
