The purpose of this study was to analyze the problems of female journalists who are members of the North Sumatra Indonesian Women's Journalist Forum (FJPI of North Sumatera) in understanding and applying child-friendly reporting guidelines: (PPRA) in reporting sexual violence. This research uses the constructivism paradigm with a descriptive qualitative approach Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs) and documentation studies. Data validity cheeks were carried out by triangulating interviews with editors or producers in the media and press experts from the Press Council. This research succeeded to inventorize the problems faced by female journalists in understanding and applying PPRA in reporting sexual violence that could have legal implications for violations of Law No. 11/2012 on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System (UU SPPA). This study also found that female joumalists, in covering sexual violence against children, use victim perspective journalism with the aim of protecting and helping victims to get justice. The results of this study concluded that the problems faced by women journalists in implementing PPRA in the reporting of sexual violence can be overcome in several ways, media companies direct journalists with SOPs, always conducts training for journalists and a firmness in law enforcement for media that violate PPRA and the SPPA Law.
