Water is one of the primary needs of humans, so it must be ensured to be safe and of good quality. One of the factors that indicates water quality is the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria in the water. Water can become contaminated with E. Coli bacteria if it is exposed to septic tanks that are not properly distanced from water sources. When water is contaminated with a significant amount of E. Coli bacteria, it becomes dangerous for use, as it can damage the walls of the small intestine and lead to symptoms such as stomach cramps, diarrhea mixed with blood, and vomiting. Electric disinfection is an efficient method for sterilizing water contaminated with E. Coli bacteria. One way to address water pollution issues is by utilizing high voltage. High-voltage direct current is applied to two electrodes spaced apart. By passing air through water contaminated with E. Coli bacteria between these two electrodes excited by a high-voltage source, water can be sterilized. High-voltage equipment is generated using a flyback transformer, controlled with PWM and frequency drivers, while a corona discharge plasma reactor is constructed with the geometry of two electrodes in the reactor tube. The test results indicate that the high-voltage equipment produces a variable voltage ranging from 0 volts to 50 kV, with a PWM driver and a frequency of 152.4 kHz. The content of E. coli bacteria in the water, before being treated with ozone, was initially 37 colonies. It has successfully decreased to 19 colonies at an ozone concentration of 0.16 ppm, further decreased to 2 colonies at an ozone concentration of 0.20 ppm, and reached 0 colonies at an ozone concentration of 0.29 ppm, meeting the requirements of PERMENKES RI No:907 /Menkes/SK/VII/2002 regarding good water quality, which specifies E. Coli bacteria content as 0 per 100 mlen_US
