Konsep Penataan Permukiman Kumuh di Wilayah Peri Urban (Studi Kasus : Kelurahan Bantan Kecamatan Medan Tembung Kota Medan Provinsi Sumatera Utara)

Abstract

The slums are residential areas where the quality of the physical, social, economic and cultural environment is declining. A slum that receives little attention from the government can be a major trigger of social inequality. Slums are commonly found in peri-urban areas and the social impacts of slums are diverse and often result in an unhealthy environment and limited access to resources needed to improve quality of life. To improve the quality of life of people in slums, research is needed related to existing problems. The method used in this research is a mixed method, with data collection using questionnaire, interview and observation. The research objectives are expected to be able to improve the quality of life of people in slums in Bantan Village, Medan Tembung District. The biggest problem in this village is the condition of bad buildings and roads that are destroyed and not enough facilities to support the socio-economic activities of the community so that the concept of slum settlement planning in peri urban area is very important
