This research is titled "Dramaturgical Analysis: Self-Disclosure of Generation Z through Second Accounts on Instagram Social Media (Descriptive Study on Students of the Universitas Sumatera Utara)." The aim of this research is to understand how Generation Z's self-disclosure occurs through second accounts on the Instagram social media platform when viewed through Erving Goffman's dramaturgical theory. Additionally, the study aims to determine the purposes of both first and second accounts on Instagram among Generation Z. The theories and concepts employed in this research include Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Mediated Interpersonal Communication, New Media, Social Media, Instagram, Erving Goffman's Dramaturgy, and the Johari Window Theory. This research adopts a qualitative approach using descriptive research methods. Data collection techniques consist of interviews, observations, documentation, and literature review. The study involved eight informants selected through purposive technique, comprising four main informants who are students at the University of North Sumatra using second accounts and four supporting informants who are close friends of the main informants. The research findings reveal that the primary account serves as the front stage where Generation Z constructs an ideal self-image for public consumption, whereas the second account is a space where Generation Z opens up to express their true selves by limiting the audience to specific individuals. In conclusion, this research identifies a process of self-disclosure occurring among Generation Z through their second accounts, as evidenced by the revelation of previously concealed traits from their primary accounts or the emergence of new qualities not present in their primary accounts.en_US
