Araceae is one of the flowering plants generally live in tropical areas which has relatively high humidity. One of them is the Sipirok Botanical Garden area This area has a humid and watery, also it has shady environmental conditions and high rainfall to support the growth of Araceae species. The study of Araceae at the Sipirok Botanical Garden area has never been done before, so the species diversity and distribution are not yet known. This study aims to inventory the types of Araceae and to know the description of their habitats at the Sipirok Botanical Garden area by using the exploration method, which was opening a cruising path and making observations to the five forest blocks represent each of vegetation type. The results of the study obtained a total of the 32 species of Araceae belong to 17 genera. The genus with the highest number of species found is Rhaphidophora as many as 7 species, while the least is Aglaonema, Amorphophallus, Amydrium, Apoballis, Caladium, Colocasia, Dieffenbachia, Epipremnum, Leucocasia, Piptospatha, Rhodospatha, Syngonium, and Xanthosoma, all contain of 1 species each. From the 32 species found, 23 species were classified as terrestrial Araceae and the other 9 species were epiphytic Araceae. Araceae has a varied habitat, soil and trees. Araceae grows at various altitudes which has high humidity (68 - 93%) to low until warm temperatures (21 - 27℃). Araceae also tend to like acidic to neutral soil (5.5 - 7) and warm temperature (19 - 27℃) with varying soil moisture (35 - 79%) and light intensity ranging from 188 to 1276 cd.
