dc.description.abstractThe Sipirok Botanical Garden is a tropical forest area from the lowlands to the highlands which targets Arecaceae as one of the plants to be conserved, therefore it is necessary to research the quantity of Arecaceae species in the Sipirok Botanical Gardens. Forest areas in several blocks including secondary and primary forest influence the distribution of Arecaceae in the region. This study aims to identify the species, and to describe the morphology Arecaceae found at the Sipirok Botanical Garden. The research was conducted from January to August 2023 using the exploratory method,which was exploring forest areas along the forest paths of the Sipirok Botanical Gardens.The result showed there werea total of 8 genera consist of 17 species of Arecaceae; eleven of them have climbing characters and the others six have tree characters.The most common type found of this study was the Calamus genus with a total of eight species, followed by the Arenga genera and Pinanga with two species. The fewest types was the Caryota, Korthalsia, Plectocomia, Plectocomiopsis and Salacca genera consist of one type of each.en_US
