Savonius vertical axis wind turbine is a tool for converting kinetic energy contained in the wind into electrical energy. This research tests the performance of the savonius wind turbine with three semicircular blades with variations in wind speed to determine its characteristics with experimental methods as a basis for developing the utilization of renewable energy by the community. The research method was carried out by taking data on the number of rotations of the rotor and generator, the amount of torque, voltage and current strength with a 9 watt DC lamp load. Based on the data from the test, the number of rotor rotations, angular velocity, torque, turbine power, wind power, and electrical power are directly proportional to the increase in wind speed. The minimum power coefficient of 0.252 is obtained when the wind speed is 9 m/s while the maximum power coefficient is obtained when the wind speed is 5 m/s at 0.335. Based on the power coefficient and TSR graphs, the wind turbine characteristics The wind turbine is very efficient at 5 m/s wind speed because it has the highest power coefficient value and high TSR
