    Abstract
Mosquitoes are one of the insects that interfere with human health. The source of mosquito nutrition used as energy can come from human blood. The research was conducted at Ujung Bandar Village, Salapian District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra on October 2022 and February 2023, this area is right under the Leuser mountains. The area has an ecosystem conditions close to forests with low temperature conditions and fairly high rainfall. The research aimed to identify the types and the numbers of the mosquitoes at the residential area and the forest around it. The data was analyzed to gain the effectiveness of Light Trap and BG Senttinel Trap using 2 antractants. Determination of the sampling location points was carried out using the purposive sampling methode, sampling was carried out using the light trap and BG Senttinel trap methods. The results of this study obtained 8 species of mosquitoes. The highest density at residential locations found on November was from the species A. Subalbatus with a density value of 0.22 and a relative density value of 38% while at forest location, the highest density was the species Anopheles leucosphyrus with a density value of 0.07 and a relative density of 17%. The highest density value obtained on November was 0.22 of the A. maculatus with a relative density of 38%. At the forest location, the highest density value of 0.15 obtained from the species A. leucosphyrus, A. maculatus, with a relative density of 25% respectively. The effectiveness of light traps and BG sentinel traps with CO2 antractants at residential locations had a significant effect on mosquito density with a significant value was 0.03 <0.05. The effectiveness of light traps and BG senttinel traps with yeast solution antractant at forest locations had no effect with a significant value was 0.255 > 0.05
