Respons Pemberian Mulsa dan Pola Tanam Tumpang Sari terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Sorgum dan Kacang Tanah

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of mulching and planting patterns in intercropping on the growth and production of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L) and peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.). This research was conducted at Jalan Bunga Sedap Malam XVIII Sempakata, Medan Selayang Subdistrict, Medan from February to August 2023, using a split plot design (RPT) with two treatment factors with three replications. The main plot was the provision of mulch with two treatments namely no mulch; plastic mulch and sub-plots were intercropping planting patterns with four treatments namely Monoculture Peanut, Monoculture Sorghum, Intercropping sorghum 4 rows + peanut 1 row, Intercropping sorghum 4 rows + peanut 3 rows. Parameters observed were sorghum plants (plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, seed weight per sample, seed weight per plot, 1000 seed weight, mung bean plants (plant height, flowering age, number of filled pods per sample. Seed weight per sample, seed weight per plot, 100 seed weight), land equivalence ratio. The results showed that the use of mulch had a significant effect on the parameters of sorghum plant height at 5-7, and 9 weeks after planting, the weight of 1,000 seeds of sorghum plants, and the weight of seeds per plot of peanut plants. The treatment of intercropping cropping patterns had a real effect on the parameters of sorghum plant height at the age of 2-9 weeks after planting, sorghum stem diameter, seed weight per sample and seed weight per plot, peanut plant height, and peanut seed weight per plot.
