Pemanfaatan Serbuk Cangkang Kelapa Sawit dan Serat Cangkang Kulit Kopi dalam Pembuatan Beton Polymer dengan Resin Epoxy sebagai Perekat
Abstract
Research has been carried out on polymer concrete using palm oil shell powder, coffee shell fiber, with epoxy resin. This research aims to determine the effect of adding palm oil shell powder and coffee shell fiber on the physical and mechanical properties of polymer concrete. The results showed that the physical properties were the highest density in the sample composition (60;15;0;25), porosity in the sample composition (60;0;15;30) and water absorption (60;0;15;30) and the lowest are density (60;0;15;25), porosity (60;10;0;30) and water absorption (60;10;0;30). The research results on the highest mechanical properties were compressive strength (60;15;0;25), tensile strength (60;15;0;25) and flexural strength (60;10;0;30). And the lowest is the compressive strength of the sample composition (60;0;15;30), tensile strength (60;0;15;30) and flexural strength (60;0;15;30). SEM test results show that the microstructure of polymer concrete shows differences between concrete sample A2 and polymer concrete sample B2. In concrete sample A1, the SEM test results show that the dark surface color in the image is a mixture of materials that are close to homogeneous, which uses materials from sand, palm oil shell powder and coffee shell fiber powder which are roasted until black and during kneading all the sample materials are produced. The dark color and visible white lumps are epoxy resin caused by lack of stirring in mixing the ingredients. In sample B2, there were visible large lumps of resin which was caused by a lack of stirring in mixing the ingredients. From the image results, it can also be seen that there are few pores on the surface of the sample.
