dc.description.abstract | Plant tissue culture is one of several techniques use to multiply orchids. Using plant growth regulators on plant tissue culture can accelerate plant growth. Chitosan can be used as a growth promoter of orchids. This study aims to determine the effect of chitosan on the growth of protocorm-like bodies of Dendrobium sp. The research was conducted from February to May 2023. The materials used in this research was protocorm-like bodies of Dendrobium sp. grown in MS (Murashige and Skoog) medium adding 20% coconut water and several concentrations of chitosan. This study was designed in a non-factorial completely randomized design with five replication on five treatments. The treatments consisted of control, MS Media + 20% Coconut water + Chitosan 2.5 mg/L, MS Media + 20% Coconut water + Chitosan 5 mg/L, MS Media + Coconut water 20% + Chitosan 10 mg/L, and MS Media + Coconut water 20% + Chitosan 15 mg/L. The results showed that the treatment with Media MS + Coconut water 20% + Chitosan 15 mg/L produced the highest average of the shoots, the leaves, the lamina area, the roots, the protocorm-like bodies, the plantlets height and the fresh weight. While average of the highest root length, showed on control and treatment MS Media + Coconut water 20% + Chitosan 10 mg/L. | en_US |
