dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to determine the germination response of jernang rattan seeds (Daemonorops didymophylla Becc.) to various treatments in breaking dormancy of jernang rattan seeds. The research was conducted in Silangit, Siborongborong District, North Tapanuli district, altitude ± 1374 meters above sea level, from April - July 2023. The study used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design. The treatment factors are: P0 (seed without treatment/control), P1 (seed soaking in plain water for 24 hours), P2 (seed scarification/sanding), P3 (seed soaking with 0.5% KNO3 for 24 hours), and P4 (seed soaking with coconut water for 24 hours O'clock). Parameters observed were germination percentage, germination rate, vigor index, germination test including the percentage of normal sprouts, abnormal sprouts and dead sprouts. The results showed that soaking jernang rattan seeds in 0.5% KNO3 solution for 24 hours had a significant effect on all parameters except the percentage of abnormal sprouts which showed no significant effect. | en_US |
