dc.description.abstract | Tea plants as one of the plantation commodities that have long been cultivated in Indonesia have a fairly important role. Tea processing produces a variety of waste, including solid, gas and liquid waste. Solid waste generated by tea factories is available in large quantities throughout the year. Solid waste of the tea industry has considerable potential to be used as a source of organic matter and as raw material for making organic fertilizer, so far the waste has not been maximized in its utilization as fertilizer for plants. This study aims to obtain microbes from tea factory waste and test the potential of microbes in decomposing organic matter. The research consists of several stages, namely isolation of microbes sourced from Bah Butong tea factory waste in a semi-cooked state, purification is carried out to obtain pure isolates that will be tested for semi-qualitative potential on CMC (Carboxil Methyl Cellulase) media, and superior isolates are tested for their potential to degrade organic matter in raw tea factory waste materials. The results showed that there were 26 microbes isolates obtained from tea factory waste, the ten microbial isolates were tested on CMC media incubated for 72 hours and the largest cellulolytic index was obtained in isolate code B17 of 1.53. In the test of the potential degradation of tea factory waste organic matter for 28 days, microbes with isolate code J9 have the potential to decompose organic matter which produces a C/N level of 12.62 followed by a pH of 6.96. | en_US |
