Chili is a vegetable commodity that is favored nationally and is one of the most attractive agiicultural commodities. There are several stages or steps that must be prepared for cultivating red chilies, including selecting superior and high quality red chili seeds. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of differences in harvest time on the viability of red chili seeds. Chili fruit is taken from in Lubuk Cuik Village, Lima Puluh District, Batu Bara Regency in Apiil-May 2023. Germination research was carried out at the Seed Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra Medan in May-Juny 2023. The study used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design with 7 treatments Pl (first week harvest), P2 (second week harvest), P3 (third week harvest), P4 (fourth week harvest), PS (fifth week harvest), P6 (harvest sixth week), P7 (seventh harvest). The results showed that the third and fourth harvest treatments were the best on the parameters of germination percentage, germination test, germination rate, vigor index, seedling height, seedling fresh weight and seedling dry weight.en_US
