    Abstract
The world is currently facing issues of energy crisis and increasing global warming. Biomass has garnered significant attention due to its renewable characteristics, low carbon dioxide emissions, high hydrogen content, and widespread utilization in energy applications. Biomass is employed in the pyrolysis process, particularly in the conversion of solid waste from oil palm empty fruit bunches. Pyrolysis, as the initial step, transforms biomass into charcoal, bio-oil, and gas. The synthetic gas temperature produced by pyrolysis has the potential to drive the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and Recuperator Organic Rankine Cycle (R-ORC) systems in waste heat recovery. This research was conducted to analyze suitable organic working fluids for the system, exergy flow values in the system, units with the highest exergy destruction, and the impact of the recuperator on the system’s exergy. The object to be simulated used Aspen Plus software, representing the process flow of an integrated pyrolysis system with ORC and R-ORC using the organic working fluids R-245fa, R-123, and R-141 B. The research results indicate that the R-245fa working fluid meets the requirements to produce work in the organic Rankine cycle, and pyrolysis yields bio-oil. The R-141 B working fluid has the highest exergy value, with the combustion chamber and condenser units having the highest exergy destruction values, each with exergy destruction values of 100.27 kW and 2.98 kW, respectively. The use of a recuperator in the organic Rankine cycle is capable of reducing the system’s exergy value
