dc.description.abstractThis design aims to create a device that utilizes wind energy by building a savonious type vertical axis wind turbine using semicircular blades. Wind energy is a renewable energy that is capable of producing electrical energy. Where a tool is needed that is able to convert wind into electrical energy, namely a wind turbine. Several areas in North Sumatra have sufficient wind speed to be used as an energy source. Vertical turbines have advantages in areas with low wind speeds and simple construction. The design method is to design a wind turbine with a turbine power plan of 50 watts using 3 aluminum blades with a diameter of 80 cm, a height of 100 cm and a shaft diameter of2.5 cm. The output power with a maximum wind speed of9m/s is 8.7 watts. Turbine design and design is the key to effective turbine performance, component calculations to the selection of materials used and wind speed and rotor cross-sectional area greatly influence the output power of the turbine.en_US
