A premature baby is a baby who is born alive before 37 weeks of gestation.
Gestational age is calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period.
Babies who are born at a premature age are babies who have a high risk because
their organ systems have not functioned perfectly. Low Birth Weight Infants
(LBW) are babies who are born weighing less than 2,500 grams, low weight
babies can be due to prematurity or can also occur in full-term babies. This
research was conducted in the NICU Room of Prof. Dr. Chairuddin Panusunan
Lubis Hospital, University of North Sumatra, carried out with nursing care
methods on 2 clients, namely client 1 baby born prematurely with LBW
gestational age 28 weeks and client 2 baby born prematurely with LBW
gestational age 32 weeks. The results obtained that both clients have the same and
different nursing diagnoses. Client 1 with nursing diagnoses of hypothermia risk,
breathing pattern disorders, nutritional deficits and risk of infection while client 2
with nursing diagnoses of nutritional deficits, risk of infection and risk of
hypothermia. The cause of the client's mother giving birth prematurely between
client 1 and client 2 is different. Client 1 the previous gestational age distance
factor was only 10 months, client 2 due to excessive maternal activity factors. In
this study the authors collaborated with room nurses and families.
