    Abstract
Laparotomy surgery is a surgical procedure that often causes complications and infections. Postoperative pain is a body's reaction to tissue damage either due to surgical incisions or due to other factors. In addition to surgical incisions, pain intensity increases due to lack of early mobilization after surgery because mobilization can improve blood circulation including circulation to the postoperative wound area so as to reduce the activity of chemical mediators in the inflammatory process so that the pain intensity is reduced. This requires a pain management technique. One of the non-pharmacological therapy approaches that can overcome postoperative pain is early mobilization. The purpose of this study was to carry out nursing care by implementing early mobilization exercises to reduce the pain intensity of postoperative patients. The assessment of pain characteristics used the PQRST assessment and a pain scale measuring tool used the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The location of the practice is in the Mahoni-Meranti inpatient room at the University of North Sumatra Hospital. The application of this early mobilization was given to 3 post-laparotomy patients who experienced pain and was implemented for 3 days. After applying early mobilization, the results show that the scale of pain intensity in patients can be reduced and patients are able to perform ADLs independently, such as sitting in bed and being able to do right-left tilt positions in bed so as to speed up the healing process.
