    Abstract
    Chronic kidney failure is damage to parts of the kidney that causes kidney function to begin to decline gradually. One of the therapies for chronic kidney failure is Hemodialysis therapy which is carried out twice a week which can cause pain almost every time an Arterio Venous Vistula (AVF) is punctured. The purpose of this senior practicum is to apply concepts and direct practice to holistic caring-based nursing care by providing cold compress therapy to reduce pain during Arterio Venous Vistula (AVF) puncture in patients with chronic kidney failure. This nursing care was carried out on 10 July – 22 July 2023 for one chronic kidney failure patient who was under going hemodialysis therapy. The nursing care provided is in the form of a cold compress technique which is given 5-10 minutes in the area where the AFV will be punctured, and this action is carried out before the puncture. The results obtained after nursing care were stabbing pain in patients with chronic kidney failure who were undergoing hemodialysis therapy was reduced, usually a pain scale of 6, after cold compresses the pain was reduced to pain scale 2. Cold compress technique in patients currently undergoing hemodialysis therapy given the intervention the process goes well, and in accordance with the goals and expected results. It is recommended for patients, families and other health workers to be able to perform cold compress techniques to reduce pain during AFV stabbing.
