    Abstract
Metisa plana and Setothosea asigna are the main pests in oil palm plantation. The damage caused by these pests is very destructive and can reduce oil palm production. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of light traps in controlling the imago of bagworm and nettle caterpillar pests. This research was conducted in the Oil Palm Plantation of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Pabatu Plantation Unit, Dolok Merawan Sub-district, Serdang Bedagai Regency at an altitude of ± 32 meters above sea level and identification in Pest Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara, starting from June until July 2023. This study used a randomized group design with 2 factors. The first factor is the installation interval consisting of 2 levels namely (Time I: 18.00 pm - 21.00 pm), and (Time II: 03.00 am-06.00 am), The second factor is the of different light traps consisting of 3 levels namely Wireless light trap, vane light trap and moth bucket trap. The results showed that the treatment of time II (03.00 am-06.00 am) had a significant effect on trapping M. plana imago, and time I (18.00 pm-21.00 pm) had a significant effect on trapping S. asigna imago. The models of light trap had no significant effect in trapping M. plana and S. asigna imago. The interaction of light trap installation interval with light trap model had no significant effect on the observed variables.
