dc.description.abstract | Ulos Harungguan Muara is one of the Toba Batak ethnic ulos. This ulos, which originates from Muara, has motifs that are combined from the ulos motifs of the Toba Batak ethnic group and commodification is carried out as a development of this ulos. This research aims to describe the form of symbols, describe the functions contained in Ulos Harungguan Muara, describe the meaning contained in Ulos Harungguan Muara, describe the commodification contained in Ulos Harungguan Muara. The theory used in analyzing the data is the semiotic theory put forward by Charles Sanders Peirce and the commodification theory put forward by Mosco. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. In this research, symbols were found, namely 22 forms of motif symbols. From the results of research on the function of symbols, 2 functions were found, namely: (1) symbolic function and (2) practical function. Based on its meaning, 2 meanings were found, namely: (1) connotation meaning and (2) denotation meaning, as well as the commodification that existed, namely: (1) commodification of the function and use of Ulos Harungguan Muara and (2) commodification of the function and form of Ulos Harungguan Muara. | en_US |
