Hubungan Kadar Tissue Plasminogen Activator (TPA) dengan Derajat Keparahan Pasien Covid-19 di RSUP H Adam Malik Medan

Abstract

Background: Since the identification of SARS CoV-2 as a virus with a high transmission rate, various studies have been carried out to find out more about the structure and properties of the virus in order to control its spread and determine patient therapy and prognosis. Covid-19 disease causes significant coagulation disorders. One laboratory parameter that is still little studied is tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA), a glycoprotein part of the serine protease, which plays an important role in the coagulation mechanism in the fibrinolysis phase. Aim: Analyze the relationship between tPA levels and the severity of Covid-19 patients treated at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan. Method: This research is a cross-sectional analytic study consisting of 39 COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan. Examination of tPA levels in COVID- 19 patients uses patient serum using the quantitative sandwich ELISA examination method on a Chemwell analyzer. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 20.0 software. All statistical tests with a p value < 0.05 were considered significant. Results: Of the 39 subjects, most of the subjects were male (64.1%) and the average age was 51.95 years. The median tPA level of all subjects was 8.1 ng/mL with the highest median tPA level in the severe-critical COVID-19 group at 42.25 ng/mL (p value <0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between tPA levels and the severity of Covid-19 patients
