    Abstract
    Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease characterized by blood glucose (blood sugar) levels that exceed normal, namely when blood sugar levels are equal to or more than 200 mg/dl, and fasting blood sugar levels are above or equal to 126 mg/dl. The percentage of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers in 2020 in North Sumatra is 161,267 sufferers. Interventions that are carried out to reduce the appearance of signs and symptoms and prevent diabetes mellitus are self-care management of diabetes. Nursing care with diabetes mellitus health problems is carried out through 5 stages of the nursing process, namely the stages of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation in order to be able to provide understanding to people with diabetes mellitus. The purpose of implementing this senior practicum is so that students are able to provide nursing care with education about the concept of diabetes mellitus and diabetes self-care management. Nursing care was carried out for 3 patients in the mahogany meranti room at Dr. Chairuddi Panusunan Lubis, University of North Sumatra. With 2 nursing diagnoses found, namely the risk of imbalance in blood glucose levels related to insulin resistance, and knowledge deficit associated with less exposure to information. And the results of the Nursing Care given to patients are that the problem is resolved, the patient knows the concept of diabetes mellitus and is able to carry out self-care management of diabetes independently and the patient is satisfied with the nursing care provided.
