Analysis of the Effect of Shape and Number of Blades on the Performance of Vertical Shaft Wind Turbine Savonius Rotor Model
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the performance generated by the Savonius wind turbine due to changes in blade shape and number of blades. There are 2 blade shapes used, namely the U blade shape and the L blade shape. As for the number of blades used are 2 blades, 3 blades, and 4 blades. The performance of the Savo-nius wind turbine can be seen from the rpm, torque, turbine power, generator power, CP, and TSR produced. In the U blade shape with a wind speed of 7 m/s, the highest shaft rotation (rpm) is obtained in the 3 blade wind turbine which is 74.3333 rpm, the highest torque is obtained in the 3 blade wind turbine which is 0.10236143 Nm, the highest turbine power is produced in the 4 blade turbine of 945.7124 Nm/s, and the highest generator power in the 3 blade wind turbine is 15.667 watts. In the L blade shape with a wind speed of 7 m/s, the highest shaft rotation (rpm) is found in the 3 blade wind turbine which produces 66 rpm, the highest torque is found in the 3 blade wind turbine which is 0.137822197 Nm, the highest turbine power is produced in the 4 blade turbine of 529.7250 Nm/s, and the highest generator power in the 3 blade wind turbine is 17.5667 watts. As the wind speed increases, the rpm, torque, turbine power, and generator power also in-crease.
