Literasi Digital Penulis Lepas Novel Fiksi di Aplikasi Wattpad

Abstract

The objective of rhe research is to find out the digital lileracy of freelance writers of fiction novels in Wattpad application. The research employs descriptive qualitative method. There are six informants, consisting of five freelance writers of fiction novels and on Wattppad ambassador who is also a freelance writer of fiction novels. The result of the research demonstrates that there are four competencies. consisting of 1) Internet searching in which the writers are searching in the internet, using Google search engine by typing keywords. Their other activities are reading novels or comics by online, playing in the social media, etc .. 2) as to hyper­textual navigation. they do not completely understand the procedure of hyper/ink and hypertext but understand the difference of information more in the internet than that of in books, and 3) concerning content evaluation, they may understand the characteristics of website and explain· the website content, but they do not understand and use FAQ service. They also cross check by comparing some sources of information to make sure if they are correct. and 4) as to the competency of content evaluation, they use keywords so that the result is not too wide. Some of the writers tend not to use group discussion to get other information. In organizing the information, the writers in the Wattpad application have stages in arranging the information which is not too different.
