| dc.description.abstract | This research describes the meaning and cultural values in the lyrics of the popular Batak song Mandailing: Anthropolinguistic Study. This research aims to understand the meaning of Mandailing Batak cultural values so that they can be conveyed to the next generation. The data in this research are the lyrics of the Batak Mandailing song which shows the cultural values in it. The data sources for this research are primary data and secondary data. Research data was obtained using the listening method with tapping techniques, then continued with advanced techniques, namely the skillful listening technique, recording technique and note-taking technique. Data were analyzed using the extralingual matching method with the technique of selecting determining elements. The results of data analysis in this research are presented using an informal presentation method. This research uses the theory of meaning by Pateda and the theory of cultural value by Robert Sibarani. The results of the research show that there are four meanings contained in the lyrics of the Batak Mandailing song, namely the meaning of comparing, the meaning of advising, the meaning of expecting something and the meaning of mocking/sarcastic. There are also thirteen cultural values contained in the lyrics of the Batak Mandailing song, namely the values of health, gender management, religion, peace, politeness, social solidarity, commitment, positive thoughts, gratitude, hard work, discipline, education, and preservation | en_US |
