Social Criticism In The Poems “Perempuan yang Tergusur” And “Jangan Takut, Ibu!” On The Anthology Of Poetry Doa untuk Anak Cucu By W.S. Rendra: A Sociological Approach To Literature
Abstract
Poetry is an art of words that combines the richness of language and imagination to deepen experiences and emotions, while reflecting values, norms and social changes in society. Literary criticism plays an important role in evaluating works of social literature. With a sociological approach to literature, especially Marxism, which highlights contradictions in society. This research aims to describe the physical and mental structure of the poems "Perempuan Yang Tergusur" and "Jangan Takut, Ibu!" by W.S. Rendra with a sociological approach to literature, as well as to explore the social problems contained therein. The research method used is descriptive qualitative and uses document study/library techniques. Content analysis is used to identify patterns in poetry texts. In analyzing the poem, the researcher can conclude that the poems "Perempuan Yang Tergusur" and "Jangan Takut, Ibu!" by W.S. Rendra has an outer structure and an inner structure because the structure of a poem greatly influences the quality of the poem. there are physical structures such as (1) diction, (2) imagery, (3) language style, (4) versification, (5) concrete words, and (6) typography, as well as internal structures including (1) theme, (2) tone , (3) atmosphere, and (4) message. The author also found 8 social problems contained in the poem, namely (1) namely the problem of poverty, (2) the problem of crime, (3) the problem of family disorganization, (4) the problem of war, (5) the problem of prostitution, (6) ) bureaucratic problems, (7) educational problems (8) injustice problems. By highlighting these social issues, the poems become a critical voice against the injustices and suffering of marginalized communities. This poem shows the importance of fighting against fear and highlights various social problems faced and felt by society
