Gambaran Academic Burnout Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara Tahun 2023

Abstract

Background. Academic burnout is a feeling of exhaustion that results from the compulsion to learn (fatigue), and feelings of inadequacy when learning (cynicism). Academic burnout arises in response to excessive work stress. This condition causes excessive loss of energy resulting in physical and mental exhaustion. Objective. This study aims to determine how the description of academic burnout in students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra in 2023. Methods. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach research design, using random sampling techniques obtained 281 respondents, then conducted socialization before distributing the SBI (School Burnout Inventory) questionnaire accompanied by an informed consent sheet. Data were analyzed univariately and presented in the form of tables and statistics. Results. A total of 281 respondents (91.5%) FK USU students experienced burnout. 203 respondents (66.5%) with an average age of 19-20 years experienced burnout. A total of 119 respondents (39.1%) students who came from outside Medan experienced burnout. A total of 80 respondents (23.4%) of students working on their final project experienced burnout. Conclusion. Most FK USU students experience academic burnout.
