    Abstract
Background: Yellow chrysanthemum (Glebionis segetum (L.) Fourr.) is a species from the genus Chrysanthemum that is rich in secondary metabolites that produce various biological activities such as antimicrobial and antiviral actions. Chrysanthemum flowers can be used in tea, instant drinks, and medicine. Phytochemical screening was carried out as a preliminary test on simplicia and the ethanol extract of yellow chrysanthemum flowers. Objective: This study aims to identify secondary metabolite compounds found in simplicia and ethanol extracts of yellow chrysanthemum flowers (Glebionis segetum (L.) Fourr.). Method: Phytochemical screening, including tests for alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, cardiac glycosides, steroids, and triterpenoids, was carried out on simplicia and ethanol extracts. Ethanol extract is obtained through the maceration method. Yellow chrysanthemum flowers were obtained from Raya Village, Karo Regency. Results: The results showed that the simplicia and ethanol extracts of yellow chrysanthemum flowers contain secondary metabolite compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and steroids. Meanwhile, the saponin and cardiac glycoside tests gave negative results. Conclusion: Simplicia and ethanol extracts of yellow chrysanthemum flowers contain alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and steroids.
