Testing The Antioxidant Activity of The Ethanol Extract of Cempedak (Artocarpus champeden) Leaves Using The DPPH Method
Abstract
Background: Plants are one source of bioactive compounds that have the
potential to be used as medicine. Indonesia is a mega biodiversity country with an
abundance of medicinal plants that have the potential to be developed as
traditional medicine products. Testing using DPPH will produce information
regarding antioxidant activity in warding off free radicals which is seen based on
the IC50 value and the resulting data needs to be compared with other compounds
that have good antioxidant activity.
Objective: This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol
extract of cempedak leaves (Artocarpus champeden) using the DPPH method.
Method: Testing the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of cempedak leaves
was carried out using the DPPH method.
Results: The ethanol extract of cempedak leaves had an IC50 antioxidant activity
of 10.2813 with a regression equation Y = 3.8331x + 10.5905 and a correlation
coefficient of 0.9608 μg/ml.
Conclusion: Based on the results of research that has been carried out, it was
found that the ethanol extract of cempedak leaves has an IC50 antioxidant activity
of 10.2813 μg/ml which is categorized as very strong because it has a value of less
than 50 μg/ml.
