| dc.description.abstract | Background: Tea has good benefits for the body, and also relaxes the body. Herbal tea is a tea processing process made from raw materials other than tea leaves. Cinnamon bark, starfruit, ginger have many health benefits so they have the potential to be used as herbal tea. Screening is carried out as a preliminary test on simplicia or herbal tea.
Objective: This study aims to determine the secondary metabolite compounds contained in simplicia and herbal tea
Methods: Samples of ginger, cinnamon bark and starfruit were taken from the Padang Bulan market in Medan, North Sumatra. This Phytochemical Screening was carried out at the Phytochemical Laboratory, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra. Screening is carried out to test alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, cardiac glycosides, saponins, steroids and triterpenoids
Results: The results showed that the herbal tea samples of ginger, cinnamon bark and starfruit contained flavonoids, saponins, steroids and triterpenoids. However, testing for alkaloids and tannins showed negative results. Test results that do not match the literature can be influenced by an extraction process that is too simple, sampling time and an inaccurate work process.
Conclusion: Herbal tea contains flavonoids, saponins, steroids and triterpenoids. | en_US |
