    Abstract
The objective of the research is to find out the capacity of media literacy of the students of SMA Negeri 1 Lima Puinis in handling hoax on Covid-19 vaccine. using the assessing criteria of media literacy (individhial competence framework) developed by European Commission. The research employs descriptive qualitative method. The informants are selecerd by asing purposive sampling technique. The data are collected through interview, observation, and library research. The validity of data are tested by using triangulation technique. The result of the research shows that the media literacy of the students falls into basto level. Their capability of operating the media (use skills) indicates that they only understand parts of the general features in the social media. Their critical understanding show's that they rarely do information verification, comparing information in the media source with the information abond Covid-19 vaccine in the pandemte era. Their understanding about the consequences and sanctions caused by the spread of hoax is also very minimal. Their communicative obilities is limited since they rurely share information and never care about Covid-19 vaccine. Teachers have not made a full effort to train students' media literacy. This is evident from the lack of guidance from both the guidance teachers and the Indonesian language teachers in training students media literacy at school.
