    Abstract
This research was conducted at experimental land at Gurusinga village, Berastagi district, Regency of Karo, North Sumatra with a height of ±1355 meters above sea level (masl) started from December 2022 until May 2023. This study used Split Plot Design (SPD) with two factors, namely commodity (S) with treatment S1 (sorghum), S2 (corn) and rice husk biochar and plastic mulch (K) with treatment K0 (without biochar and plastic mulch), K1 (biochar), K2 (plastic mulch), K3 (biochar and plastic mulch). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, the weight of panicle/cob per sample, the weight of panicle/cob per plot, seed production per sample, seed production per plot, the weight of 1000 seeds, the weight of wet stover per sample, the weight of wet stover per plot and harvest index. The results showed that on sorghum plant the treatment of rice husk biochar and plastic mulch significantly affected plant height 3,7, 8 and 9 weeks after planting (WAP), the weight of panicle per sample, the weight of panicle per plot, seed production per sample, seed production per plot, the weight of wet stover per sample, the weight of wet stover per plot and harvest index. On corn plant the treatment of rice husk biochar and plastic mulch significantly not affected to all observed parameters except plant height 2, 4 and 9 weeks after planting (WAP). The economic value of land (land rent) for corn plant which obtained is bigger than sorghum plant.
