    Abstract
Cassava is an important food crop and plays a strategic role in people's lives and the country's economy. Development efforts continue to be made to increase production and productivity. This research aims to analyze the growth of several types of cassava in North Sumatra based on the number of shoots used as seeds. The cassava seeds used were obtained from cassava plants cultivated by the community consisting of 4 types (genotypes), namely: Gajah cassava (G1), Malaysia (G2), Manggu (G3), and Butter (G4). This research was carried out on the land of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra from October to November 2023. This research used a Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 2 treatment factors. The first factor is the bud eye (1, 2, 3 and 4 bud eye). The results showed that genotype treatment had a significant effect on the parameters of shoot length, shoot diameter at 4 WAP, number of leaves, number of roots and root length. The number of shoots treatment had a significant effect on the parameters of shoot length, shoot diameter at 1 and 2 WAP, number of leaves, number of roots and root length. The interaction of genotype and number of shoots has a significant effect on the parameters of shoot length, shoot diameter and root length. The highest interaction occurred in the root length parameter in the T2G3 treatment.
