Library User Service Strategies in Facing The COVID-19 Pandemic at The Library Technical Service Unit of Universitas Negeri Medan
Abstract
This research discusses the “Library User Service Strategies in Facing the COVID-19 Pandemic at the Library Technical Service Unit (UPT) of Universitas Negeri Medan”. The research aims to find out the strategies implemented by librarians in providing library service during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Library Technical Service unit of Universitas Negeri Medan. This research is conducted using descriptive qualitative research. The research informants consist of the Head of the Functional Division, the Coordinator of User Services, the Circulation staff, and the Reference staff. Data are collected through observation, interview and documentation. The results indicate that the service strategies implemented at the Library Technical Service Unit of Universitas Negeri Medan during the COVID-19 pandemic are namely by providing digital service and making the use of information technology, such as OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), Unimed (Universitas Negeri Medan ) Library System applications as well as Social Media as Whatsapp, Instagram, and Facebook.
