    Abstract
The scope of applications in the development of optoelectronic instrumentation, especially laser diodes, is very broad, such as measurement tools, remote control systems, telecommunications systems, medical equipment, military technology, and many more. Laser diodes are light sources whose intensity depends on the current passing through the diode, so a power supply is needed to drive the diode. Laser diodes are made of semiconductor materials that are prone to heat sensitivity. The higher the temperature of the laser, the higher the current required to maintain a stable output power so that the laser diode can damaged by an unstable power be supply. This research has designed a device to automatically control the laser diode power to make it more stable by using the Thorlabs LD2000R laser diode driver. The results show the difference in power output on the laser diode using the Automatic Power Control (APC) system, which is read by a multimeter and printed using a plotter. The SNR calculation results obtained are 2,47 for systems that do not use APC, while systems that use APC have an SNR of 18,27. The greater the SNR obtained, the better the system can work.
